“Moneyball”

A smarter than average and modern Hollywood film, “Moneyball” has it all. This movie is a thinking baseball movie. Whether you like sports or not, this film is not only about the rebuilding of a baseball team, but is about how math can somehow be useful in the process of getting players for a little amount of money that can win a championship.

The film is about Billy Beane, once a High School baseball star, now manages The Oakland Athletics. He meets a man, Peter Brand, who believes that with the use of math and averages a World Series Championship caliber team can be built. This man has great believe in their theory. Will it work? Or will their team be a failure?

This film also displays a fabulous cast including Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, Jonah Hill as Peter Brand, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the manager, Art Howe, Robin Wright as Sharon, Chris Pratt as Scott Hatteberg, and Stephen Bishop as David Justice. This cast does a phenomenal job at connecting with the character and not just playing a part in a movie.

I thought that this was a spectacular film. I love the game of baseball and this film took the game to a whole different level of thought process. I really enjoyed seeing how these two men built this low paying and somewhat successful team even though no one believed that they could do it. I also enjoyed how for some part of the movie they took it away from baseball and focused on the relationship that Billy had with his daughter and how she really helps him get through his stress of rebuilding this team that no one believes can be made to win the World Series.

This movie is not only talks about the way baseball is played but also about what some teams have to do in other to build a championship caliber team.
